Wedding Registry? How About A Honeymoon Registry Instead or In Addition?
When it comes time to put together your wedding there are a lot of things to think about. Registering for gifts is something that you can do for yourself and your guests to make shopping for, buying and receiving gifts a lot easier. These days, apart from the typical bridal registry you can also opt for a honeymoon registry.
How do you decide if you should go with a traditional bridal registry or a honeymoon registry, or if you should set up both? Well, in some situations it will be obvious. For example, if you already have a well established household, you probably don't need to start from scratch in putting together all the necessities of a home. In this case, your honeymoon may be where you'd like to focus your gifts and a honeymoon registry is the perfect solution.
If you will have many guests at your wedding, or you are not planning on doing a very extensive wedding registry, you can go with both types of registries and let your guests pick which they'd like to gift you.
If you've not heard of a honeymoon registry before, you may be wondering just what it is. My early impressions were just that people could donate money toward your vacation. This is far from all giving from a wedding registry is!
Of course you can have an option for people to pay for or contribute to airfare and accommodation or other basic travel expenses, but this is not even necessary for some people. In addition to, or instead of this, you can choose some activities that you'd like to do on your honeymoon for your guests to buy you.
You may be prepared to take a trip to Hawaii, but dread paying for all the attractions you'd like to visit. On your honeymoon registry you can list some that you are interested, maybe a helicopter trip over the islands, past waterfalls, volcanoes and mountains, maybe you'd like a simple candle light dinner one night. You can include swimming with dolphins or diving with sharks, or any other activity that interests you.
A honeymoon registry is a great way to get the most out of the time spent on your honeymoon. You can build memories, thanks to your friends and family. Some items you might buy for a wedding won't last forever, but memories are something that you can keep and treasure forever!
Of course you could always just ask for cash for your wedding, and then put it toward your honeymoon on your own, but how much nicer to remember that mom and dad put you up in that posh resort or that your favorite co-worker is the one who paid for your scuba diving adventure.
